Description
Alcantarea ‘Bruce Dunstan’ is a majestic variegated bromeliad. Cultivated by M Cameron in Queensland, Australia. This seed-raised marvel, named after the respected horticulturist Bruce Dunstan, boasts a mature rosette that can stretch to an impressive 1.5 meters in diameter and 1 meter in height. The leaves exhibit a scurfed texture with a striking central stripe of bold white variegation, a characteristic that sets it apart from its peers. The reverse of the foliage is coated with a white powdery indument, enhancing its allure. True to its Alc. glaziouana heritage, ‘Bruce Dunstan’ produces an erect, branched spike that can reach 2.5 meters tall, crowned with white flowers that continue the variegation theme, as even the scape bracts bear the signature central stripe. Registered in January 2016, this cultivar is a testament to the beauty that can arise from selective breeding and a showcase of the exceptional diversity found within the Alcantarea genus.
