Description
Alcantarea ‘John Stoddard’, named and stabilized by the renowned Rafael Oliveira, is a pioneering cultivar hailing from the vibrant ecosystem of Brazil. It is celebrated as the first reported case of variegated glaziouana, discovered in 2000 adorning the bare rock of Barra da Tijuca. This bromeliad’s lineage is honored by its namesake, a Venezuelan bromeliad enthusiast, and was officially registered in December 2008 by Bromelairio Imperialis. The plant presents a magnificent rosette, marked by striking variegation — vivid yellow stripes against a canvas of deep green. The contrast is both bold and elegant, offering a dynamic visual appeal that accentuates its architectural form. As it matures, ‘John Stoddard’ forms an impressive structure, symbolizing resilience and the exotic beauty inherent to the Brazilian landscape. It is a specimen that not only stands out for its distinctive coloring but also for its contribution to the diversity of cultivated bromeliads.
