Description
Alcantarea ‘Yellow Star’ is a vibrant addition to the bromeliad family, hybridized with care by Dunstan B and grown to perfection by Tristram P Australia. As a selfed seed-raised mutation, this cultivar boasts a radiance evident in the creamy-yellow margins of its somewhat stiff, heavily stacked leaves. These leaves, triangular and tapering by nature, form a mature rosette that can reach up to 1.5 meters in diameter, making a grand statement in any garden or as a focal point in large containers. ‘Yellow Star’ shares its grex lineage with the likes of Alc. ‘White Star’, ‘Mellow Yellow’, and ‘Moray’ are distinguished by their unique variegation. Registered in November 2011 by P. Tristram, the ‘Yellow Star’ stands out for its robust growth and the warm, sunny borders of its foliage, invoking the bright and lively spirit of its Australian origins.
